How to: Make Perfect Cupcakes for the Holidays

From gifts to decorations, the holidays are always a busy time. People want something yummy to impress the relatives, but it is always so hectic. What if there was a way to find the perfect treat, to impress the picky-eaters?

First of all, you need to decide if you want a cake or cupcakes. This recipe can make both, but if you want a cake and cupcakes, you will need more batter.

You will need:

  • 1.5 cups of sugar
  • 0.75 cup of butter, room temperature
  • 3 eggs
  • 2.25 cups of flour
  • 3 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 0.75 cups of milk
  • Cupcakes cups (optional)
  • A few drops of vanilla
  • nonstick cooking spray

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and place cups in tin. If you are using cups, I highly recommend the reusable kind. It will save you lots of money and is good for the environment.

Coat the reusable cups with a thin layer of cooking spray. Stir the sugar and butter in a bowl. Then, add the eggs and vanilla.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour and baking powder together. Add the liquid mixture and stir well. Stir in the milk and spoon batter into cupcake tin.

Fill each cup a little more than ¾ of the way full. Place the tin into the oven and wait.

Check the cupcakes in 20 minutes. Keep an eye on your cupcakes! If they look golden or crisp, they are ready to take out. Wait for them to cool, before frosting them.

For the homemade frosting, you will need:

  • 0.5 cup of butter, room temperature
  • 0.125-0.5 cup of milk
  • 3.75 cups of milk
  • A few drops of vanilla

Mix milk, butter and vanilla, and slowly add powder sugar. Then, stir the mixture and add milk if needed. Spread frosting on the cooled cupcakes. If you want a center filling, press on the top and then put the frosting on. Decorate your cupcakes and enjoy!

I recommend using simple, yet pretty designs. You could go for a drizzled look, add food coloring to the frosting, or add a sugar snowflake. I really like these recipes and your family will too. This quick and easy cupcake, can be something worth talking about. Just don’t forget the milk!
