Taylor Swift has a Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account. She reaches out to fans in ways that are like a best friend. One of the Tweets she sent out was to a girl suffering from bullying. It encouraged the girl to not let the bullying get in the way of her being her. Taylor’s social media accounts are also a great way for people to find out about her. She currently has 63,297,959 followers on Twitter, 45,935,834 followers on Instagram and 72,552,787 followers on Facebook. When Taylor was starting out in the singing and songwriting business, she got fans through social media.

Taylor was born on December 13, 1989 in Reading, Pennsylvania.  At 11, she won her first singing competition. Her first song was titled “Lucky You” and was written by her when she was only 12!  She lived on a Christmas tree farm in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Growing up Taylor really liked reading and poetry.  At the age of 12, she wrote a 350 page book, but it has never been published.

When asked about Taylor Swift, freshman Hannah Capper said “I like her songs the best. The concert was great. I really liked the surprise appearance Russell Wilson and Shawn Mendes made. I’ve been a fan of  her songs since her album Speak Now, so around the time she started to go more pop music than country. I like Taylor Swift mainly because her songs are catchy and fun to play whenever. My favorite song would have to be “Blank Space” because all that she is doing is making fun of the haters in a really catchy way. She is a great singer and seems nice.” Taylor Swift’s song “Blank Space” is about what the media depicts her as, a serial dater. She shows, through the song, that if she was a cereal dater she would be more like the character in “Blank Space”, rather than who she actually is.

When questioned about Taylor Swift, freshman Grace Marquette responded “Taylor Swift is a very unique person, she seems to follow the beat of her own drum and I think that is pretty cool. I’ve never been to one of her concerts, but I was driving passed a stadium where one was taking place, and it was packed. Taylor Swift is not my favorite musician, but I like her. I feel like it might have been my cousin who first showed me a Taylor Swift song when I was around the age of 7, but I am not sure. I don’t know what my favorite song by her is; it’s between “Sparks Fly”, “Safe & Sound” and “Blank Space”.”

Taylor has donated both money and time towards helping others and is constantly reaching out to fans. She does Swiftmas, which is where she gives presents and notes to fans that are deserving of it. Many think that she does this just for the media, but what she does is more than that. Although she gains some fans for the things she does, she also gets haters. She is just being her. It’s not about  the number of fans, but how she can help them. The looks on the faces of her fans and the people she helps are priceless! Taylor Swift is not only a talented singer, but a good person too!
