Q: Hey there Elyse! That’s some lovely artwork you’ve got there. Mind telling me what it is?

A:  This is a grid charcoal drawing of the protagonist from the USA series Mr. Robot. It’s a very good show and I wanted to recreate some of the promotional work for it.

Q: It’s a very detailed work of art I see. It must have taken a while to make. Say, how did you make this thing?

A: Well like all the grid drawings, I had to break the original photo into equal squares. Then, with some math, I had to convert sizes of the squares from the small paper to the large paper. This way makes drawing larger pieces of art easier.

Q: Now with any form of artwork a lot of what goes into the art comes from the emotions of the artist. Tell me Elyse, how does this piece of artwork make you feel?

A: To be honest, I’m satisfied with how it came out. I messed up a couple of times when I started this type of drawing technique, but those mistakes helped me figure out what to do next time. The show is shot very well and inspired me to promote it.

Alrighty Miss Miyake, thanks for answering my questions!
