The Drama Club Continues

The+Drama+Club+Continues

Quarantine has been tough on a lot of school events, and with in person school being shut down, a lot of clubs had to pay the price. But as the saying goes, “The show must go on!” The Drama Club at GHHS has continued with its one act plays, adopting some new habits to assure the safety of all of its members. To acquire further insight, I went to interview one of the Directors, Olivia Schwab. She’s a new director this year, so of course I had to ask her what it’s like. “Because of COVID, being a director has looked a lot different than directors I’ve interacted with in the past. Honestly, I have loved it so much. I get to bond with my cast and work with the crew extensively and I have such a greater appreciation for theatre because of it,” stated Schwab. Though the director position still virtually remains the same, COVID has still affected other aspects of Drama, though that hasn’t seemed to stop them from having fun! She added, “COVID has drastically affected our experience, but I think it’s made us much more resilient. For starters, we wear masks and stay 6 feet apart, and we also wipe down/sanitize/ clean excessively to make sure that there is no contamination on any prop, clothing, or table. We’ve gotten used to it, though!” There are 3 shows this year, all wonderful and worth the watch! The shows are going to be recorded and will soon be available to audiences to view.
