Anime Club Uncovered

A Typical Anime Club Meeting

“Soul Eater,” Rowan Sibley, President of Anime Club, decided, “It’s a Halloween-related anime.” On this particular meeting of Anime Club, the approaching holiday meant anime-watching themed to the occasion. After picking the anime to watch for the day, the small group of students sat back, ate popcorn, and watched the show.

The amount of work that goes into the animation process is really amazing and it’s really cool to see how that translates into an actual show.

They meet every Thursday after school in room 211 to watch and share their thoughts about anime. In these informal discussions, members discuss their likes and dislikes for an anime and also discuss its cultural aspects. Sophomore Rowan Sibley enjoys watching anime because it gives her a new perspective on Japanese culture. She also adds, “The amount of work that goes into the animation process is really amazing and it’s really cool to see how that translates into an actual show.”

Right now, Anime Club is focusing on raising money in Tidefest so that they can help members pay for tickets to go to the anime convention, SakuraCon, in Seattle.
