In a world where technology has become a child’s new best toy, so have apps on smartphones become toys for the average high schooler. In their spare time during lunch, waiting for a counselor to open up, or during AP Econ class, Gig Harbor High School students have been recently obsessed with a new app called Trivia Crack.  The app, first made in October of 2013, tests your knowledge in six subjects: science, entertainment, art, geography, sports, and history. A student can challenge their friends (our teachers for that matter) to see who is the smartest.

So why is this app so popular recently? Some students enjoy the game because it’s easy and fun to play. The game is also a good way to pass time, relax, and take a break from work.

Mr. Coovert explains that he started playing the game because his students pressured him to play. “They thought they could beat me,” he confesses, “I had to show them they could not.” He feels the game is popular because you can play it so fast. However, he points out that the app will “eventually pass, just like Angry Birds.”
