The Concert of the Year

Deck the Hall Ball is one of the most anticipated concerts of the year put together by 107.7 The End Radio Show. This year, the timely event occurred on Tuesday, December 9th, and a number of fantastic bands showed for the event: Royal Blood, Vance Joy, KONGOS, TV on the Radio, Young the Giant, Cage the Elephant, Weezer, and Imagine Dragons (in order of performance). The concert started at 3pm and ended at 11pm, which is eight hours of intense music and performances.

Yes, some may say that’s the longest concert out there, but when you’re invested in the music and the artists there are invested in their own music, it makes for an exhilarating time. Senior Isabel Munroe shares, “Deck the Hall Ball was one of the most amazing nights of my life, seeing Cage the Elephant live has always been a dream of mine. It was very surreal.” The doors to the Key Arena opened at 2pm and most of the General Admission poured in to claim their spot at the front of the stage. Royal Blood opened the concert at 3 on the spot, and the beat of Out of the Black rang through the speakers surrounding the arena. The arena really started filling once Young the Giant took the stage, the pit cramming all to see and hear the iconic scream of the beginning Crystallized. It grasped the attention of every member in the crowd. In the middle of the Cage the Elephant performance, lead singer Matt Shultz threw his body into the crowd, screaming the lyrics of Come a Little Closer. The closing act of the night, Imagine Dragons, was not only riveting, but also an emotional performance as Dan Reynolds proclaimed through the speakers how fortunate he was for the experience. As every person left the arena to run through the pouring rain, only one thought seemed to ring through their head. How will 107.7 live up to this next year?
