Seahawks-Inspired Gameday Food

Sanda Gugin, Staff

The big game has finally arrived this weekend and if you’re planning on having a big party or just having a few friends over, be sure to treat your guests with some delicious tailgate food.  These dishes are sure to please your guests as you watch the Super Bowl together and show off your Seattle Seahawks Pride.

·        Make regular popcorn festive by dyeing it blue and green. Start with some fluffy white popcorn; you can use air popped or microwave popcorn. In a pot on the stove, combine some butter, sugar, and corn syrup. Stir it until it melts and then comes to a simmer.  You’ll boil this mixture for three minutes, stirring it constantly. Then you’ll add a packet of unsweetened Kool-Aid in a lemon-lime or blue raspberry flavor to dye your popcorn blue and green. The Kool-Aid packets will add a fruity and sweet flavor to your popcorn, offering a unique twist on traditional caramel corn. If you want your color more intense, you can add food coloring.

·        Make blue and green jello. Jello is something that is sure to please people of all ages, but it is an especially delectable treat for toddlers and young children. To take your jello to the next level, garnish it with wedges of lime and blueberries. If you’re serving a crowd of sweet tooths, you can even add a dollop of whipped cream.

·        Revamp your trail mix to show off your Seahawks pride. Starting out with your traditional trail mix, add blue and green skittles or even blue and green m&ms! This recipe is by far the easiest as it requires no prior preparation or cooking.
