Samsung Note 5 vs. S6 Edge Plus
There are numerous flagship smartphones on the cellphone market today, all with their own compelling arguments to sit in your pocket for the next couple of years. Whether you’re an iPhone 6 fan, prefer the feel and camera of the LG G4, or are a strong Samsung supporter, almost everyone today has a smartphone.
Today, though, I’ll only be taking a look at Samsung’s two top devices: the Note 5 and the S6 Edge Plus. Normally we interview non-familiar people, but I couldn’t help tapping into the vast container of electronic device knowledge known as my brother Mason Tatum.
Mason is the household IT department, and knows nearly everything there is to know about these two devices. In fact, he recently acquired the Note 5 as his latest “weapon of choice”. Here is how our conversation went:
Q: When comparing these two phones, is there a difference in camera quality/features?
A: “No, there is no difference between cameras.”
Q: What are the major exterior features of each phone?
A: “The Note 5 is equipped with the Samsung S Pen stylus, while Edge + has a curved screen on either side, allowing messages and notifications to be read at an angle.”
Q: Which phone has a larger screen?
A: “The Edge Plus has a slightly larger surface area due to the curved edges.”
Q: Is there a difference in the speed and performance in the devices?
A: “Surprisingly, there is no difference.”
Q: What are the biggest disadvantages of these two phones?
A: “Neither allows expandable external storage via micro SD card, nor a removable battery, features that some phones such as the LG G4 possess.”
Q: Which phone is more practical for daily use?
A: “In my opinion, the Note 5 is more practical because of the S-Pen, allowing more functionality when using organization and picture editing applications. On the contrary, the S6 Edge plus only benefits from the fact that notifications are capable of being ride while the screen is off, a feature that isn’t a necessity in most people’s daily lives.”
In the end, if you are on the market for a new cell phone, both the S6 Edge plus and Samsung Note 5 are viable options! If you prefer a flashy phone to show off to your friends, the Edge Plus is the way to go. But if you are seeking out a practical tool for daily work, the Note 5 is probably the wiser path to take.
