Teardrop Book Review

Have you ever thought about why bad things happen to certain people? Have you ever felt the sadness trying to drown you? That is the way Eureka feels as she goes on a journey of emotions and tears. For many years Atlantis was a mythical place, unknown by many. All of that changes one day, when Eureka realizes that she and the ones she loves, might have more to do with Atlantis than she thought. In a thrilling, fast paced novel, Teardrop is an excellent novel that I recommend for all ages, mainly teens.

The novel begins when Eureka’s mom drowns in a tragic accident while she was saved by a mysterious boy and cannot help feeling like she is the reason why her mom is gone. From her mother’s death, Eureka inherited a locket, a letter, an ancient book, and an mysterious stone.

The ancient book talks about a girl who cried so much that she flooded the world. Ander tells her that he is part of a group of people, Seedbearers, that are from the original Atlantis, can breathe underwater, have special abilities, are trying to kill her, and don’t die unless coming in contact with the stone. Eureka finds out that she is the next person who could flood the world with her tears and her mother’s death was not some accident…

Ander tells Eureka that he ran away from the Seedbearers because he didn’t believe in what they were doing. They believe that the best way to fix the problem is by eliminating Eureka and all the women related to her. Together, they go on a quest to save the world and Eureka.

This thrilling tale is one of fantasy, troubles and relationships. I highly recommend it and I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. There is a sequel to this book, Waterfall. Lauren Kate writes many other fascinating books, including Fallen, Torment, Passion, Falling in Love, Rapture and Unforgiven. Waterfall and Teardrop are a must read!
