Clash of the Undefeated: Tides take on Olympia

Captains of the Tides meet at the beginning of the game with the Eastlake captains. The Tides won this game 40-6.

This Friday at 7 pm the Gig Harbor Tides football team will kickoff their 4th Narrows 4A League game against the Olympia Bears (Olympia, WA). The Tides are coming off of a big 51-0 league win against Timberline (Lacey, WA), and have a great deal of momentum with a 6-0 start. The Tides look to continue showing their dominance offensively and defensively, as they have outscored their opponents 303-27 so far this season and don’t plan on stopping.

There is good football being played in the state’s capital as well, as Olympia looks to better their record to 7-0 with a win against the Tides. The Bears have outscored their opponents 256-59 this season. The Bears Offense will look to slow the pace of the game down and run the clock out, in an attempt to stifle the Tides’ high powered no huddle offense.

“We’re looking forward to heading down there and getting a team victory. They will probably be the toughest competition we’ve seen so far this season and we’re looking forward to the challenge,” says senior wide receiver Dylan Lindmark.

We asked senior linebacker Alex Bouterse what he thinks the keys to the game are. “Speaking for the defense, stopping their run game and forcing turnovers will be key. They are well coached so we will need to earn this win.”

If the Gig Harbor defense gets off the field on a consistent basis then this game could be very one sided. Our prediction here at the Gig Harbor Sound is a 21-7 Tides win.
