Peanuts Movie Review
This weekend I decided to watch The Peanuts Movie to see if I should tell my friends whether or not to see it. Well, I’ve come to the conclusion that though this production is not the most incredible thing I’ve seen, it is most certainly worth your time. However, there are some pros and cons I want to dive into before giving my final rating.
The plot begins when a new little red haired girl moves into Charlie Brown’s neighborhood and he instantly develops a huge crush on her. But being the klutz that he is, Charlie is worried that his continuous bad luck won’t get him noticed. So, Charlie tries everything to get the girl’s attention. From entering the talent show and school dance, to writing a book report for her, Charlie doesn’t seem to be getting any closer to having his crush in his arms. Will Charlie ever get noticed by the little red haired girl? Well, that’s up to you guys to find out.
Now, I’ll start off with what I enjoyed about this film. First, and most most recognized, is the visual animation. In, my opinion, this is one of the most visually beautiful works of 3D animation I’ve seen in a long time. Every scene looked smooth, colorful, and appears very different than animations prior. Another thing I loved about this movie was the cast. Everyone in the film was voiced by children and was performed extremely well which made the film more realistic and relatable. The final thing I liked about the film was the story. In 2006, following the death of Charlie Brown comic creator Charles Shultz, his son Craig came up with the idea to make the strip into a major motion picture. He brought his idea to his own son Bryan Schulz (who was a screenwriter) and the pair worked on making it happen. The story was easy to follow thanks to Bryan, and critics rated it the best film by BlueSky Studios.
Now, though it lacks action and some scenes just feel like fillers to get more time into the movie, all in all, this film was great. It was entertaining to watch and was great film-making across the board. I recommend it to people who want to share a laugh with friends and relive the humorous comic strips they read as kids. I give it a solid 8/10. Great Film!
