Inside Out Review

Why do we feel sadness, anger, disgust, fear and joy? The Disney Pixar movie Inside Out explains this, with cute characters that demonstrate how crazy life can be sometimes.

The film presents Minnesotan teen Riley, whose life is turned upside down when her dad changes jobs, and they have to move to San Francisco. While the adventure follows Riley, her emotions in her mind do all of the acting. At what the emotions call Headquarters, the emotions help Riley get through each day. However, once she has moved to San Francisco, she has to leave the life she once loved. Chaos ensues in her head when Joy and Sadness, along with the core memories, are shot out of Headquarters. Without these emotions, Riley is devoid from happiness and sadness.

Both Sadness and Joy must work together to gain control of Riley’s emotions at Headquarters before Riley loses complete control of her actions.

This incredible Disney film is directed by Artie Mandelberg. His visions for a world full of emotions make the movie entertaining. But what makes the film are the incredible voice works from Amy Poehler as Joy to Phyllis Smith as Sadness. The hopeful and cheery voice of Joy that contrasts with Sadness’s depressive nature develops a conflict that keeps the viewers on Riley’s side.

The film work, directing and characters in this film, helped to make this one of Disney’s best animated films. Most people have given Inside Out an average of 9.5/10 stars. I would recommend this to families and lovers of disney films.
