Marshawn Lynch Retirement
After a polished nine year career in the NFL, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch decided to hang up his cleats. He served three years in the NFL with the Bills and six years with the Seahawks.
During his career he racked up more than 11,000 total yards and a total of 83 touchdowns. As good as he was in the regular season, Lynch always seemed to up his game in the postseason recording nine touchdowns in just eleven games. Including the famous “BeastQuake” run that actually registered an earthquake on the richter scale in Seattle from the crowd’s reaction. It was just a year ago that Lynch was drawing raves as the best running back in football after leading the league in rushing touchdowns for two consecutive seasons.
As a colorful character and the most consistently productive postseason power back of his generation, Lynch will present an interesting Hall of Fame case despite his relatively short career. In typical taciturn Lynch style, he simply tweeted a peace emoji with a picture of his cleats suspended from a telephone wire, suggesting he’s hanging them up for good. Even though he has retired from the game of football he is still going to Cairo, Egypt during the offseason for the third consecutive year to teach the youth how to play the game and help out the community there including visiting a children’s hospital.
Overall Marshawn Lynch will be greatly missed in Seattle because of his punishing running style that is getting less and less common as time goes on.
