Super Bowl 50
The Super Bowl is the most watched event in television every year. This year about 110 million people watched the Super Bowl. This year two titans collided, the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos.
The Carolina Panthers came into the game favored by 5.5 points with a season record of 17-1. In the postseason the Panthers dominated, beating the Seattle Seahawks 31-24, and the Arizona Cardinals 49-15. With this momentum and MVP QB Cam Newton the Panthers looked unstoppable.
On the other side was future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. The Broncos were the underdog in this game even though they had a great season. They came into the game with a record of 14-4. The Broncos postseason was a bit closer than the Panthers. They beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-16 and barely beat the New England Patriots 20-18. This Super Bowl was mostly important to Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning, who is 39 and has been dealing with many injuries is considering retirement.
The game didn’t go how everyone thought. The Broncos surprised the Panthers early on and took an aggressive early 10 point lead. By halftime the score was 13-7 Broncos were winning.
The 2nd half became a little bit closer by the fourth quarter. The Panthers were driving to win the game. MVP Cam Newton had time to redeem himself, to this point he had lost a fumble and had thrown an interception. On this drive Cam dropped back but the Broncos’ outside linebacker Von Miller came from behind and stripped the ball. The Broncos ended up recovering the ball and scoring another touchdown to win Super Bowl 50. The game MVP deservingly went to Von Miller who had 5 tackles 2.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.
