Leicester City’s Magical Run to the BPL Title

World Football Net

Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez poses as a candidate for PFA Player of the Year for his goals and assists amounted over the course of the season.

Leicester City are three wins away from guaranteeing themselves the Premier League Title.

At the start of the season Leicester were being talked about by many as a team poised for relegation but now as the season is coming to a close, they have already locked a spot in the Champions League for next season.

They are just nine points away from pulling off the biggest Cinderella story in sports probably of all time. If you aren’t already familiar with there story I’ll quickly fill you in.

The Leicester City Foxes got promoted from the 2nd division in England (FL Championshipinto the Premier League, where the top teams are usually the ones who have economic success. Before the season started Leicester’s odds to win the Premier league were 5000-1,those odds are absolutely unheard of. Only five teams since the English first division to the Premier League have won the competition and those team’s are Arsenal(3), Manchester United(13), Chelsea(4), Manchester City(2), and Blackburn Rovers(1).

Leicester would join this exclusive club which just again goes to show just how hard it is to win the Premier League. Usually it’s between the typical four to six teams who have the most money and the biggest lure to foreign players to get those big signings. Leicester are a breath of fresh air. They play with passion and heart and they don’t have the money but behind the player’s and fan’s dedication and spirit they are on the verge of doing something incredible. It just goes to show where dedication and hard work will get you.

Football is a team sport dominated by clubs who buy the biggest stars for ridiculous transfer fees that they’re wealthy club owners dish out in demand for success. Leicester are the opposite of that. Title favorites this season Manchester City spent £157 million pounds on players in 2015, Leicester City in 2010 was bought as a club for £39 million pounds. By that logic in 2010 instead of buying players Man City could have bought Leicester’s club saved over £100 million pounds and probably won the Premier League, which is something they couldn’t do after splashing that ridiculous £157 in one summer.

Bottomline with the heart that star players Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’golo Kante display in the spine of the team are the best example of how Leicester play. They play as a team, they have fun, and they fight for each other. They all believe in a common goal when nobody else would and now they are on the brink of achieving the most improbable championship in sports history. We all should thank Leicester for giving us the theater of this season and giving us a tale that will be passed on for generations, and even if they fall short they have done wonders for the game, for themselves, and for their City.
