The NBA’s MVP Steph Curry
Steph Curry was just a scrawny kid who could shoot the ball in high school, but put in an immense amount of work and was able to receive a D-1 scholarship by Davidson College, a small school at the time. In his junior season there he led the team into March Madness by winning their conference tournament against Appalachian State. They received a 10 seed in the tournament and Steph Curry made a name for himself. He shot lights out and led the Wildcats to the Elite Eight ultimately losing a heartbreaker to Kansas by 2 points. In the following NBA draft Curry was drafted 7th overall by the Golden State Warriors.
Many analysts criticized the selection. Curry proved all of them wrong by winning the MVP in 2015. A year after winning the NBA Finals and his first career MVP award, Stephen Curry won the MVP award for the second straight year.
This year he did it in style by becoming the first ever player to win the award unanimously by getting all 131 first place votes. In 2013, LeBron James came one vote shy of receiving the first ever unanimous MVP award. This year Curry averaged 30.1 points, 6.7 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 steals.
Along with his individual accolades, the Golden State Warriors set an NBA record for best regular season record by going 73-9. All year they played as a team even when not everyone was healthy. The way they played together showed how much each of them trusted in each other. The Warriors barely edged out the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls who went 72-10. That team was led by arguably the greatest player to ever play the game, Michael Jordan.
