OG Fortnite Takes The School By Storm

People around the school have been talking about a big video game for the last couple weeks. The game that first introduced the video game world to the Battle Royale play style known as Fortnite. The game is really big at the moment hitting an all time high for active players with 6.2 million people on the game at one time. This is because the original map from 2018 is back and brings those great nostalgic memories from our childhood. “The friends that I played with when I was 10 years old are back and playing with each other. As well as the memories of fun times,” Boone Leverett (11) said.

The OG Season brings back a ton of people back to the game. The surplus amount of people online allows for old and new friends to play throughout the day.  People have been playing with a lot of old friends. “I’ve played with Luke Garcia, Jack Hand, Joey Hughes, Tommy Fish, Sawyer Henderson, Levi Engelbright,” Andrew Reyder (12) stated. These people all graduated from high school, which shows how the new season is bringing people back together. The game can also break people apart from the competitive nature it is creating. Max Potashnick (11) said, “The best memory I’ve made playing the OG season is beating Parker Bare at 1v1’s.” Parker Bare (11) replied with, “No way, Max can’t beat me if I wasn’t trying.”

OG Fortnite might be a problem for school. Many students have been skipping classes to play. “Me and some friends didn’t go to school for the release date because I was too excited to play,” said Tristan Schaefer (12). It will be intriguing to see what the school is going to do about kids missing out on their school work to play the new season. Seeing that the second half of the first semester is coming around, grades are starting to look more and more in place by the day. If students continue to miss out on their work those grades could start to slip and send them into a downward spiral.
