Tides Wrestling Has Strong Start

Tides Wrestling Has Strong Start

The Gig Harbor Tides wrestling team is ready for the season. Before any of the matches, Isaac Edmund (10) said this about the start of the season, “Even though I’m not able to wrestle this season I am excited to see how our team grows with each other and how each person improves throughout the year to see how they will grow by the end of the season.”  The Tides started off the season with A tournament, the tournament was against multiple schools at Foss High School, with Jack Greer (9) who is 106 lb, coming in 1st place, Liam McDermott (11) at 138lb in 2nd place, Jonah Edmund (11) at 126 lb in 3rd place, and finally DJ Shannon (9) at 144lb in 6th place. The Tides second meet was against River Ridge High School, this game ended in a loss for Gig Harbor with a score of 15-56. With this loss Ben Skiffington (11) said this about his performance, “I definitely didn’t do my best at this match, and I definitely have some things I could learn and some skills I could clean up on but for the most part I was happy with my performance because my competition played very well, but I think I can get him next time.” With all of this hype from the coaches, team, and spectators this team is ready for whatever the season has to offer and is ready to fight their hardest at each of their meets and strive for victory which shows in their first tournament as they have the most leading players on the scoreboards, this also shows their dedication to the team. “I am so ready for this season and I am prepared for what the opponents have to offer because I am willing to work however hard I am needed to,” said Liam McDermott.
