The 2024 fashion trends in Gig Harbor, Washington, are slowly arriving as the weather increases, the UV rises, and the sun goes down later. Reid Clevenger (9) says, “I really love the bow trend that everyone is wearing in their hair and on their outfits!” According to Vogue Fashion Magazine, the coquette bow trend is described as “the vibe is largely focused on a prim, hyper-feminine aesthetic—complete with sweet florals, cottagecore-style lace, and of course, loads of pretty bows.” This look is aligned with the ‘clean’ look. This is seen as more natural makeup, more neutral colors, slick-back hairstyles, simple outfits, and simple jewelry. People are also hopping on the sandwich method of styling outfits. This is matching your shoes with the color of the top, hat, sunglasses, etc. that you are wearing.
To continue, clothing fashion trends are starting to become a big hit amongst teens all over social media and are transferring into our school fashion styles. With new styles and looks, Ella Rieder (10) says, “I really love all the wide-legged jeans that are coming back in style!” These wide-legged jeans can be found in stores such as American Eagle, Aritzia, H&M, Macy’s, Old Navy, GAP, Target, Zara, and many other clothing stores.
To add to that, another popular trend that is seen among many students in the Gig Harbor High School community is overalls. For summer, brands are making short overalls as well as pant overalls, depending on which you prefer. Martha Shultz (10) says, “I love how many people are starting to wear overalls and how cute they are!” As the popularity of this style increases, brands are making more varieties of the color choices for overalls. Originally, you could really only find overalls in the blue jean color. Now, you can find overalls in almost any color. This style is also drifting off from the jean material, can be found in a variety of other fabrics, and has a similar look as overalls. Overalls were created in the 1700s and have had such a comeback amongst younger generations in the past couple years!
Next, taking a look into street style, Hunter Ruiz (10) says, “Jorts and sambas are definitely my favorite trend.” This trend is paired with an oversize t-shirt and higher socks, like Nike’s “everyday cushioned” or adidas “athletic cushioned quarter sock,” with the sambas. This can also be seen with an off-the-shoulder style shirt or crew neck.
Overall, there are many more trends that are becoming more popular, but the ones listed are some of the most popular amongst Gig Harbor High School students. The oversize style is definitely one of the most popular trends amongst students. Let’s see what new styles come as the summer days begin!
