Beyoncé Giselle Knowles is one of the most influential and greatest artists of all time and has impacted history and stayed relevant for many years. Beyoncé first caught the attention of the world after being the lead singer of the R&B girl group, Destiny’s Child, that was popular in the 1990s but ultimately broke up in 2006. Beyoncé’s first single album, Dangerously In Love, hit number one on the Billboard 200 list, won 5 Grammys, sold millions of copies, and became a classic in many people’s hearts.
Beyoncé is also the holder of the most Grammys in history with 32 Grammys, tied with Taylor Swift for most MTV awards with 30 in total, and in 2022 she was awarded the BET (Black Entertainment Television) Award for BeyGOOD, an initiative Beyoncé founded that includes scholarship programs, support for Black-owned businesses, and partnerships with organizations like UNICEF (United Nations Children Fund), an organization set out to protect children’s rights, and for constantly donating to mental health organizations and donated $6 million to the COVID-19 Relief Effort. Beyoncé is known for helping others with The Survivor Foundation, funding scholarships, supporting grassroot organizations, and being an ambassador for World Children Day in 2005, making her one of the most giving artists of our time. “Beyoncé has taught me how to be a great person, and for that, I thank her,” Samara Wilson (9) states.
79% of people interviewed at our school reported that they love Beyoncé and that she has impacted their lives. “I grew up listening to Beyoncé, and I just think she’s iconic.” Camdyn McDowell (9) says. Beyoncé has not only made a significant impact on the music industry but also on philanthropy and social activism, inspiring many to give back and make a difference in the world. Her influence extends far beyond her music, making her a role model for millions of people around the globe.
Beyoncé is also infamous for her outstanding live performances, often including props, outfit changes, and stunning background sets, always leaving audiences shocked and wanting more. But her live performances can also be sincere and emotional; in 2020 she sang her song, XO, as a tribute to Kobe Bryant’s passing and announced her first pregnancy at the MTV 2011 Video Music Awards at the end of her song, Love On Top.
Not to mention her mind-blowing vocals, best displayed in the Lion King soundtrack after a video of her process surfaced. In the video, she sings an F sharp that transitions into an F sharp minor, ending it with going up an octave all while maintaining a vibrato. Hundreds of vocal coaches have analyzed her voice and released their own guides on how to sing exactly like the pop star. “I love Beyoncé because of her high vocals and riff in Dubai,“ Reid Clevenger (10) says. With her dedication to giving back to the community, countless awards, memorable performances, and insane vocals, it’s safe to say that Beyoncé has cemented her place in history.
