Girls Soccer Dominates on the Field

With the Lady Tides soccer season coming to an end, they are a competitive and vibrant team that showcases talent and dedication. Known for their teamwork and sportsmanship, the team has played in various leagues. Many of the players not only strive to win games but also build lasting friendships and show Gig Harbor pride. In addition to honing their soccer skills, the team really shows emphasis on academic achievements; they like to encourage their players to be very well rounded.

The Gig Harbor girls’ soccer team has a strong reputation in the 3A South Sound, known for both their tenacity on the field and their unwavering sportsmanship. The team has a legacy of competitive success. Gig Harbor also begins the year with a new coach, Coach Robyn Saathoff. Former assistant Saathoff takes over for former coach Katie Bennett.

Defender Emmalee Snell (11) said, “Playing soccer with this team has helped me develop friendships I didn’t know I could have [and] has also formed me to be a better player and person on and off the field.” She notes how soccer has taught her important life lessons in addition to athletic skills. Soccer and other team sports help players develop perseverance, discipline, and teamwork, which helps them become well-rounded people.

Ella Cox (12) explained, ”Soccer showed me the beauty of teamwork and the thrill of pursuing goals together as a team. Every match taught me that passion, dedication, and challenges become chances to grow.” She says that soccer has shown her the value of teamwork and the excitement of chasing goals alongside her teammates. For her, every game is a reminder that hard work, passion, and facing challenges together make them stronger as a team and as individuals. Soccer has taught Cox that dedication and resilience lead to growth, both on and off the field, and she sees each challenge as a chance to learn and improve. This experience has shaped her into a more well-rounded person, showing her how meaningful it is to work toward something bigger than herself.

Molly Leverett (11) said, “I think my favorite memory this season was winning against Peninsula for the league title because we all worked so hard and the team atmosphere that night was just really amazing.” This memory stands out as a highlight for the player because it captures a moment when the entire team’s hard work and commitment came together for a major win. Beating Peninsula to win the league title wasn’t just about the score—it was a testament to the dedication and effort each player put in throughout the season. Achieving this goal reinforced the bond among teammates, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of excitement and unity. That night, the team’s shared effort and collective energy made the victory feel even more meaningful, turning it into a memory that symbolizes the rewards of teamwork and perseverance.
