This year’s girls basketball team is currently in 2nd place in the Puget Sound Narrows League. They currently hold a league record of 7-7 and an overall record of 10-8. The team is strong this year and has such a great connection on and off the court. This Monday the team played a tough West Seattle High School team and absolutely dominated. The Tides came out on top with an amazing score of 52-38 to win the game. “The energy on the bench was electric, and it helped everyone in the game to get hyped.” Katie Waida (10) said.
With the season coming to an end after next week with games away at Mt. Tahoma and Central Kitsap, the Lady Tides will come up on the playoffs, where they are expected to succeed greatly. With playoffs approaching, they have been dominant on the court, driving to the basket and pushing the ball up the court for a shot. “I’m really excited for what’s to come the rest of this season. Playoffs should be a good experience for all of us! It will be good competition, but we are ready to face whatever comes our way.” Willow Bonnici (10) said.
Everyone on the team had so much fun this season; the season was filled with joy and emotion that was always left out on the court. ”It’s so fun because we all get to do stuff together as a team, JV and varsity, instead of being separated and being part of one big family.” Natalie Ekerdt (10) said. The team felt very connected and encouraged each other to the best of their abilities. With all of their teammates support, the tides were motivated to perform the best they could at every practice and game.
Over the winter break, the team traveled to Palm Beach, Florida, where they competed at the Palm Beaches National Holiday Basketball Classic Invitational Tournament. Although the team went 1-2 while they were there, they had tons of fun outside of the gym. The players attended team dinners, team bonding, and even a beach trip.”I really enjoyed the trip. It was a really fun opportunity to bond with my team and get to know people since this is my first year in the program.” Anika Jones (9) stated.
Overall the Lady Tides have had such a great season, and they can’t wait for what is to come in the future for the growing program!
