A Night to Remember: Celebrating Our Seniors in Girls Basketball

On January 23, 2025, we honored our amazing senior lady tides on the basketball court. That night, the varsity girls played Silas High School and finished with a big win! Finley Wyman (12) and Gracie Carey (12), our two wonderful seniors, have been on the girls basketball team since freshman year. If it wasn’t for Carey’s aggressive drives to the hoop and Wyman’s fantastic rebounding, the team wouldn’t be where they are now.

Right before the game, the team presented Silas and the cheerleader seniors with flowers and many other fun gifts, including balloons, candy, flowers, and much more. The game itself was a thrilling experience and so fun to watch. The girls came out with much energy to accomplish their goal of winning and making the night as special as can be. Every basket made, steal, and block, the crowd was loud and supportive. You could see the determination on their faces—wanting to leave it all on the court.

Halftime was another special moment. The fourth-grade Harbor Hoops came out on the court and played a short and sweet game. These little ones watched the entire game, wanting to be just like the seniors one day. When the girls came out in the team room ready for another great second half, they looked more ready than ever, knowing that they would win this game. Katie Waida (10) stated, “The energy was very high; everyone had smiles on their faces, happy because we were winning, and it was senior night.”

As the final buzzer sounded, our Lady Tides secured a hard-fought victory, making the night even more memorable. The seniors had tears in their eyes, knowing it was their last home game of their high school basketball season. Tears in their eyes, they earned everything they worked for on this court and with this team.

Senior night wasn’t just about basketball; it was about celebrating the bonds, memories, and dedication that these players brought to our school. Wyman stated to her team at the end of the night, “Thank you guys for the best senior night ever and for putting everything together. You guys are the best, and I couldn’t have asked for a better senior season. I can’t wait to finish it out with you guys.” These girls, Carey and Wyman, will forever be remembered and will always be looked up to when stepping onto the court for any practice and game, knowing they made this team the way they are now.
