Spring Break 2025

Spring Break 2025

Spring break for Gig Harbor High School took place from the 13th to the 19th of April. Many students traveled for spring break, and many stayed home to enjoy the wonderful weather and to hang out with friends. Spring break offers a much-needed break from the stress of school and allows students to relax for a bit. “My favorite thing about spring break is getting to sleep in,” said Ben Waters (10). Whether it is sleeping a little extra, traveling across the states, or simply riding your bike, spring break has much to offer.

“Me and my family went up to England for spring break,” said Aurora Lettellier (9). “We flew from SeaTac to England on a nine-and-a-half-hour flight, and then we explored the city for a little bit. We went to Tower Bridge and just toured around for a couple of days.” Letellier talked about how she loved the city and the old architecture; every building had a story. ”My favorite part was visiting the original Globe Theatre and watching the Shakespeare play Macbeth.” The Globe Theatre is the original theater that Shakespeare performed in and is the inspiration for many modern theaters today. Letellier and her family had a wonderful trip to England and an overall awesome spring break.

“I went to Zion National Park in Utah to hike,” said Jane Edgar (11). “We left really early to go fly down to Utah; we stayed there for five days, and we went on a bunch of ten-mile hikes. One of the hikes was up to Angel’s Landing, which is one of the most dangerous hikes in America. It was a lot of fun, and I almost fell off the edge.” Edgar mentioned that on her way up, she was supposed to have a rope tied to her to catch her if she fell; she was not wearing that rope. Edgars said that just before she fell, her dad caught her. Truly one of the most thrilling spring break trips.

Some people didn’t have to travel far to enjoy a lovely spring break; one of those people is Camdyn McDowel (9), who did something new every day. “Me and my family went down to the beach. I just walked around and ate some sandwiches; it was a lot of fun. And then another day, me and my family went to Seattle to visit the gum wall and went to some restaurants. One day, my mom just decided on a whim that our bathroom should be pink, so we went to all these stores and redid our whole bathroom.” McDowell got a lot done over spring break and had many stories to tell. “One of my favorite parts of spring break was when me and my family went to see the Illusions Museum in Seattle. They had these mirrors that were cut in a way that made it so that if one person stood on one side and one person stood on the other, it would make someone look super tall and the other super short.” McDowell talked about how the museum had hallways that ran backwards and rooms that distorted gravity; there were trinkets, tunnels, and spinning rooms that were not moving.

“We went to Florida, a little east of Destin. It was beautiful, nice, sunny weather; the UV was ten; it was awesome,” said Jay Nuttall (11). Nuttal talked about how warm the ocean was and how beautiful the coast of Florida is. “We were staying at a house; the beach was like five minutes away, so we were at the beach almost the whole trip.” Nuttall also mentioned how many cool things there are to do in Florida, saying, “There are also really fun activities, like this place called ‘the track’; it had a huge go-kart track and a huge ‘sky-flyer,’ which is pretty much like a huge swing in the air, and they had great food.” Nuttall said that his favorite part of Florida is the ocean, and he had a really great trip with his family.

With so many students doing so many fun things, it is easy to see why spring break is the best time of year for some people. Spring break this year was undoubtedly awesome, and no matter what students did, they got a break from the tedious and sometimes dreary days of school and got to enjoy some time on their own; from road trips to family reunions, this spring break truly had it all.
