From the baseball team’s nearly perfect record to tennis, track, golf, and more, athletes are pushing hard as a season moves into playoffs. Gig Harbor athletes are making the school proud this season.
Baseball is having an amazing season with an 18-1 record and just won the league title. Quentin Bockhorn (11) remarked, “I definitely think we could win state.” The team has worked hard and is excited for what’s next.
Fastpitch is also performing extremely well. The team has an 11-1 record and is 2nd in the 3A Pierce County League. They’re tied for first in the Narrows division.
Golf is also dominating. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams won the Gamble Sands Tournament. The girls are 4-0 and in first place, and the boys are 4-2 and in second. Natalie Eckerdt (10) said, “My favorite memory from the season is probably the matches because I got to spend a lot of quality time with my team.” Both teams want to make it to the state tournament in Spokane at the end of May.
Boys soccer has a 9-3-2 record and is in first place in the 3A South Sound District. The team has strong matches all season and is ready for playoffs.
Girls’ tennis is in third place overall in the league and recently won against Capital High School. The team is now preparing for the league tournament, where players compete as individuals or pairs. Zoe Chavez (10) said her highlight of the season has been “getting to know my teammates better and becoming closer with my partner.”
Track and field is also heading into the postseason. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams are hoping to qualify for state after strong performances this spring.
As playoffs begin, the energy is high. Many students, teachers, and families are showing their love and support for the team. With many teams ranked near the top aiming for state, it’s very clear that this spring has one of the most exciting seasons yet. No matter what the outcome is, the Tides have proven their teamwork and school pride.
