The Student Store is a great place for students to apply what they have learned in marketing class to real life. By working in the student store, people get work experiences that can help them prepare for the future. This unique opportunity enables students to develop their work skills while having a fun time.

Operating the store helps students prepare for future jobs and can also assist with building resumes. Ms. Tifny Eicher is in charge of running and managing the store with students. Eicher stated regarding her responsibility, “I think the biggest benefit of working in the student store is you’re getting real-world work experience. You’re actually getting resume-building techniques. I feel like the resume building and real-world skills that you can actually take with you to get a job are great.” Eicher also expressed how much she loves getting to interact with students. She said, “The interaction with the students in a positive way while they’re still learning and having fun with it has been my favorite part.”

It is also a cool experience because everyone gets a chance to try out multiple different jobs around the store. Cecelia Pearson (9) said, “There are three jobs. There’s the drink maker, runner, and cashier. The drink maker makes the drinks, the runner does the slushies and grabs the drinks from the case, and the cashier is just a cashier.” The store gets lots of business from students during both first and second lunch. It usually gets about forty to fifty customers every day, so everyone gets lots of practice serving customers.

Working in the store also gives students the chance to practically use what they have learned in the classroom. Abby Conn (9) has had a lot of fun working in the store. She said, “We learned about promotions, so deals and stuff like that, which is helpful for working in the store.” The store is a very positive, engaging environment for students to learn and grow in.

Overall, the Student Store is an amazing opportunity for students to learn how to work and manage a business while having fun. Through this program, students become educated on what goes into running a business in the classroom and then get to work in the store, which helps expand their understanding of marketing and how it works. Whether they are interested in marketing or just want to have a cool experience working in the store, the Student Store and Marketing class are great places to learn and have fun.
