Not many students take time to talk to the lunch staff at our school, so I went out to get to know more about a few of the lunch ladies and why they do their job. As I interviewed the lunch staff, I asked three different lunch ladies, the same three questions which were, their name, what they love about there job, and something they would change about the school.

They all had the same overall reason they love their job. The most common answer I received was that they enjoy the people around them, whether it be their coworkers or the students they serve.

The first lady I spoke with was Cheri, who has been working here since 1997. She said, “the best part about my job is being around the staff and students but I would like to be able to give them what they want for lunch, not what I am forced to give them.”

Chris, who serves pizza, said, “I enjoy talking to the students”, and she “wouldn’t want to change a thing.”

Evelyn, who works at the pizza station, has been working at the school for 14 years. She said she “would enjoy shorter school days.” Her favorite part about working at the school is “being able to see her coworkers and the students everyday.”

After listening to what they had to say, it made me realize that us students should take more time to talk to those who provide for us everyday. It was good to hear what Cheri, Chris and Evelyn had to say about their job as working in lunch staff.
